Dublin, Ireland
What do you get when you cross a brown chicken and a brown cow?
BROWNCHICKEN BROWNCOWWW....
Anyways, today is the first day of our journey. We landed in dublin at 7:30am local time which is 2:30am EST. We sat 2 rows behind a kid that smelled of the worst BO imaginable. It was wafting its way down the isle and I swear there was a green trail behind it. We did however get a meal on the flight, which good so in all it was a wash (the smell of the food was a relief). We got about 3 hours of sleep total, so we were pretty tired when we got there.
We arrived at our hostel around 8:30 local time and were just in time for a big fancy breakfast. This meal consisted of a barrage of white & wheat toast, orange juice and some milk. It was the best toast I have ever had, we were also very hungry and knew this would hold us over for the day. Two of roommates are from Sweden and their names are Lars and Veeder.... Just kidding, but they do smell like the kid on the plane.
Weather was everything i imagined Ireland would be. It was damp with light sprinkles every hour or so. It was pretty nice actually. We hit up a bar called O'Neil's as soon as we stated venturing out in the city and grabbed, of course, a Guinness. We also went to see the national museum, Trinity College, saw all the monuments, etc. They were all really cool. During this whole time we managed not to get hit by any cars. Getting used to cars on the opposite side of the road is harder than you would think. The clenliness of the city is impecable. we saw about 50 street sweepers polishing the sidewalks wether it was rainging or not.
After we took a quick nap we ventured out for again. We were going to the National Art Gallery which was suppose to be open late on Tuesdays, but apparently that changed to Thursdays. So we trucked onward to Hartcourt street. This area had many small local shops and restuarants but indecisive steve couldn't make up his mind which is typical. We sat down in one pub and the guy came up to us and ask what we wanted, with some hesitation steve said in a very american way "We want buffalo tenders", not can we have a menu, or a drink. The grill ended up being closed at this place so we kept on until we found a place call The Wooly Shed." Apparently, soccer is big over here and there were a bunch of play off games going on, so this place was packed. The was good and I would recommend it.
Everything was beyond our expectations today, however, I (steve) dropped my camera and it is jammed and now says there is a lens malfunction and i need to reset it. Only something like this would happen to me. I'll get it fixed in the morning though at some shop tomorrow.
We'll keep you posted as much as we can. Ciao.
p.s. props sergio for that joke. this site wouldn't be possible without him.
